In
English, there are two kinds of question. They are yes-no question
and question-word question.
1. YES-NO
QUESTION
It
is a question sentence that uses auxiliary verbs. It only has two
answers; yes and no. When we use this kind of question, we have
to use a high intonation. Auxiliary verbs that use in yes-no question are: could,
can, might, may, must, should, shall, would, and will. We also can
use to be (is, am, are, was, were), to do (do, does, did), and to
have (have, has, had).
For Example:
-
Do
you agree with that?
-
Can
you hear me?
-
Would
she go abroad?
2. QUESTION-WORD QUESTION
It is a question sentence that uses question word. Different
with yes-no question, when we use this kind of question, we have to use a low
intonation. Question words that we might use are: what, when, where, why,
which, whose, who, whom, and how.
For Example:
-
What
are you doing?
-
Where
do you go?
-
Which
one do you like?
Now, let’s test
your skill by making questions from these questions:
1. I will go to
bookstore.
2. She is a teacher.
3. They made
this food for him.
4. We have to
go to campus.
5. He went
tmall at 5 p.m.
